Pattachitras are a form of traditional Odisha narrative art that originated as a visual aid during musical performances. The name "Pattachitra" is derived from two Sanskrit words: "patta," meaning canvas, and "chitra," meaning picture. As such, Pattachitras are paintings created on canvas and are characterized by vibrant colors, intricate patterns and designs, and often depict simple mythological themes.

The story behind this magnificent collection is one of true collaboration and dedication. It all started when the talented Smaranika from Maavni joined forces with the Kanvas team to bring the raw beauty of Pattachitra art from the heart of Bhubaneswar, Odisha to the world.

Despite facing the challenge of a language barrier and a tight deadline, Smaranika worked her magic and brought the essence of this intricate art form to life. Her passion and expertise were the driving force behind the success of this project.

And Kanvas, true to its reputation, worked its magic by creating stunning shoes that blended the traditional and the contemporary, infusing them with the rich cultural heritage of India. The result was a collection that was not only visually striking but also celebrated the unique artistry of Pattachitra.

Together, Artisans from Maavni and Team Kanvas created a true masterpiece that showcases the beauty and diversity of India’s rich cultural heritage. Their collaboration serves as a testament to the power of teamwork and the beauty of cross-cultural exchange.
